Privacy Policy

How monVPN handles your personal data — across the apps, the VPN service, the website and the customer area.

This privacy policy describes the privacy practices of monVPN's apps, services and websites.

iOS apps

  • Data type: identifiers — user ID / account ID
  • Purpose: app functionality — authenticate the user and enable features

This data is sent from the apps to our API server to handle an authentication request, but we don't keep it: it's deleted immediately after the request is processed. We don't collect data and don't use third-party partners to handle the request.

Device permissions: the monVPN iOS, Fire OS and Android apps may request permissions that let them access device data. These permissions can be revoked at any time from device settings — revoking them may affect how well the app works.

  • Access to the current Wi-Fi SSID, when the network protection feature is enabled.
  • Permission to save the VPN profile.

Android and Fire OS apps

  • Data type: diagnostics — crash data
  • Purpose: improve stability, performance and minimise crashes
  • Data type: identifiers — user ID / account ID
  • Purpose: authenticate the user and enable features

VPN service

This "non-personal data" is not associated with or linked to any personal data; it cannot identify a natural person. We are committed to confidentiality: the service is not monitored, recorded, stored or transmitted to any third party. We do not store traffic logs, IP addresses or browsing data.

We need this data only to provide our products and services, optimise and improve them, and ensure their safe and efficient operation.

Website and customer area

monVPN collects the personal information you provide directly when you sign up: name, email address and country of residence — to create an account. This lets us communicate with you about your VPN services, answer your support requests and notify you of announcements. A valid email address is also required to recover a lost password.

You can choose whether to receive marketing emails from the customer area.

We don't store any personal data about payments in our system. Third-party payment processors may store specific payment information:

monVPN uses your personal information only for the purposes listed in this policy and does not sell your personal information to third parties.

Email and live chat

monVPN keeps the correspondence you submit by email or ticket, along with our replies — to provide the best possible support. Live chat uses the third-party platform Crisp: your conversations, including your IP, are stored in their system, which uses modern security and encryption practices.

Cookies

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a site: they identify the browser used and can be recognised by our web server. This processing serves our legitimate interest in making our site more user-friendly, more efficient and more secure.

Most cookies we use are "session cookies": they are deleted at the end of your visit.

Third-party cookies

In particular, monVPN uses:

  • Google Analytics for statistical evaluation and improving site performance (with IP anonymisation enabled).

To prevent cookie-generated data collection, you can download and install the plug-in available at: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Consent and age restriction

If you continue using our website, apps or services, we'll consider it your agreement to our privacy policy and terms of use.

The service provided by monVPN is intended for people aged 18 or over.

Where we store your data

Your data is not stored outside the European Union.

Data retention

We keep service data for 2 years and customer-area data for 3 years after you stop using our service. After that, it's deleted on a rolling basis.

In line with GDPR, reasonable requests for disclosure of a specific user's data will be honoured within 28 days of an acceptable request. You have the right, in certain situations, to ask us to rectify or delete (the "right to be forgotten") personal data about you and/or restrict its processing.

Acceptable use

Customers agree to follow our acceptable-use policy or their account will be cancelled. The service must not be used for illegal activity or to support illegal activity: promoting or encouraging criminal or terrorist activity, running resource-intensive programs that interfere with other users, sending phishing or impersonation emails, using stolen credit cards or bank accounts, engaging in child sexual abuse material, sending SPAM or hate mail, mass marketing email, receiving and distributing pirated copyrighted content, transmitting viruses, worms or trojans, hacking or scamming.

The primary goal of our service is to protect your privacy. We don't tolerate or promote any criminal activity. Violations may result in your devices being blocked without refund. You may also be held liable for any damages, including any amounts billed by an external entity due to such violations (including legal fees and costs).

You may not resell or attempt to resell monVPN accounts or services. You alone are responsible for your use of the service.

Licence

monVPN grants you a non-exclusive licence to use the apps, service and documentation for the agreed term, including any extension or renewal (the "Subscription Period"), provided you accept the terms of this agreement. Modifying, reselling, redistributing, reverse-engineering or using the software in any way not expressly authorised by monVPN is strictly prohibited.

Disclaimer

Despite our best efforts, the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee that the service will be available at all times, nor the accuracy of the service or anything provided through it.

Policy changes

monVPN reserves the right to update this privacy and acceptable-use policy. Any reasonably significant changes will be posted on the website to bring them to your attention.
